The Secret to Removing Stress That No One Wants to Share

By Suzanne Kovi

I finally figured out what has been at the root of all evil. Stress! Think about it, if you could rid your life of this ball and chain, what would your life look like? The possibilities are endless, but thinking of that alone can be stressful. The answer to stress has created a multi million dollar market for authors, speakers and of course lets not forget the pharmaceutical industry. I think they are in a love affair with the insurance companies. They more insurance companies deny us quality and affordable insurance, the more stressed we become. The more stressed we become, the more doctors will see us in their office. How do we take back control of our lives, without being stressed?

I don’t have that answer for you. You have the answer, but I can address one of the most common buzz phrases of the 21st century and how it may be a contributor to the stress. The one phrase, that without the proper perspective, can cause more harm than good. Its called Life Balance. Balance in life is the answer to stress, right? If you believe all the “specialists” who are freaking out over paying their bills. I tell it like it is, and its because of this that I want to offer another perspective that may be easier to swallow than the latest stress reduction pill. Balancing life without balance.

Life was never meant to be in balance – it ebb and flows. The secret to keeping it all together is being balanced in a specific area, not the entire life kitten caboodle all at once. There are 8 basic areas that fit into the balance wheel of life: spiritual, financial, relationships, work, fun, health, personal growth and environment. How do you get all this in balance? If you map out your life, you will see where your time, energy and money is spent and you will invariably see the imbalance. That’s life. The thought of trying to get it all in balance makes me short of breath. So here is the answer to REALLY balancing life… take one area at a time and balance your life within it.

Here is a road map to help you grasp this concept. Take any one of the 8 areas I mentioned and follow these rules to reducing stress:

B – Be present in life while focusing on the person or task that is right in front of you. If you are present, then you are balanced in that area. You are not being thrown off by being somewhere else for that moment.

A – As you are. Be yourself and not someone else. If you can remain true to who you are in any given moment then you won’t feel inclined to back peddle and fix what you may have created. Integrity in life is at the core of being peaceful.

L – Love what you have, while you have it, as you have it. If you focus on what you don’t have or what you can’t do, you will create more stress.

A – Ask for what you need. You will release more stress by voicing your mind and giving yourself freedom of expression. Feelings that are not shared lead to more problems and fewer solutions

N – Say NO if you have to. Its your life. Ask yourself this, “Who am I living my life for?”

C – Connect to your spirit. Your gut will never steer your wrong. If it feels wrong, then wait before you make a choice. Give yourself time to create the life you want, and choose with your best intentions in mind.

E – Eliminate the “I should’s, I want’s, I wish, I can’ts.” These phrases will keep you trapped in a life that won’t work. They are designed to keep you safe and keep you from making choices for yourself. Free yourself of these traps and more possibilities will open to you.

Being balanced in life is what ever that means to you. Life will get a little topsy turvy once in a while. It keeps us on our toes and keeps us engaged in living. Stress can not be eliminated in life. It’s a gift that gives us fuel to creating change. Its the fire that makes life happen. The stress that ruins lives is the stress that takes away our joy of living. This whole idea of being in balance in life is not what it appears to mean. Its not about life being balanced as a whole, its about you being balanced in the whole of your life. Stay true to you in all areas, and ride the wave of life. It may get choppy, but at least you know who you are, and that should be calming enough.
